The cultivation of black pepper requires extremely tropical and humid climate. High rainfall and a cool climate are mandatory requisites for the cultivation of black pepper. Vietnam is the largest producer and exporter of black pepper in the world. India, Indonesia and Brazil are a close second when it comes to cultivation and export of black pepper. Pepper berries are picked when they are only half ripe to extract black peppers. This plant is not a seasonal plant entailing it is cultivated throughout the year.
